Rammed earth is, essentially, as simple as it sounds. A carefully selected mixture of aggregates and clay is thoroughly compacted in layers between robust formwork. Stabilised rammed earth includes small amounts of cement in the mix, which significantly adds to the strength and durability of the finished product. |

The natural appearance of rammed earth walls have a texture, colour and feel unmatched by conventional building products.
Thermal
The high thermal mass of rammed earth evens out temperature fluctuations in a building. Coupled with good passive solar design, this will result in significant savings in heating and cooling energy consumption. Having earth walls, a radiant heat source, as a heat transfer medium, instead of mechanically heated air, contributes to the superior comfort of the building. Insulation can be embedded in external walls to further enhance these benefits.
Health
No VOCs or off-gassing of toxic fumes ensure a healthy indoor environment.

Rammed earth is highly suited to bushfire prone areas.
